US May See Spike In Omicron Cases by January Top Expert

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided data about the Omicron variant stating 58.6% of cases have been affected with the variant of all the infections in US. Fauci, the US Presidential medical adviser said that US may see peak of Omicron  affected cases by end of January. The adviser said, given the diversity of vaccinations and non-vaccinated population, the cases will see a dramatic surge probably by end of January.

On Tuesday, CDC provided the data that 58.6% cases of all the infection across US are Omicron affected. The data is provided upto 25 December the ending week of 2021. The variant which was first found in South Africa has become the dominant variant in just few weeks across the world and is responsible for the sudden spike in covid-19 cases.

Officials have warned that it is the most transmissible variant but produces milder symptoms than the other variants like Delta, Beta, etc. The current seven days average, US has recorded 240,400 cases per day. This showed an increase of 60 per cent cases than the last week.
