The Delta Covid strain has spread so quickly across the United States that most counties now comply with the CDC’s recommendation that people wear masks indoors whether or not they have been vaccinated. On July 27, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) amended its mask guideline to urge wearing masks inside in areas of the United States where community transmission was considered high or considerable.
Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said, “We continue to see cases, hospitalizations and deaths increase across the country. And now, over 90% of counties in the United States are experiencing substantial or high transmission. As we have been saying, by far, those at highest risk remain people who have not yet been vaccinated.”
She claims that unvaccinated Americans account for the vast majority of illnesses and fatalities in the United States. To avoid future spread of the virus, some significant organisations in both the public and commercial sectors have imposed immunizations or required weekly Covid testing. President Joe Biden met with business executives recently to promote vaccine or testing mandates. To limit the spread of the Delta variety, several cities with high vaccination rates have imposed vaccination for indoor activities including as restaurants, bars, and gyms. For indoor activities, at least one dosage of a vaccine will be required in New York City, and full vaccination with a two-dose regimen or one dose of a single-dose regimen vaccine will be required in San Francisco.
