CDC says that the immunocompromised may require forth dose

According to current guidelines from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people with specific health problems that make them moderately or severely immunocompromised may obtain a fourth mRNA Covid-19 dose. In August, the approved the third dose for select immunocompromised adults aged 18 and over. It stated that a third dose, rather than a booster, was required because the immunocompromised may not have received a complete immune response from the first two doses, according to the CDC.

According to a study published this summer by Johns Hopkins University, vaccinated immunocompromised persons were 485 times more likely than most vaccinated people to end up in the hospital or die from Covid-19. According to the CDC, fully vaccinated immunocompromised patients accounted for roughly 44% of breakthrough cases requiring hospitalization in small studies. Immunocompromised people are also more prone to spread the virus to those who have had intimate contact with them.

According to the CDC, the US Food and Drug Administration has also approved booster injections of all three vaccines for select patients, including those with impaired immune systems. In certain immunocompromised persons, a booster dosage improved antibody response to the vaccine, according to research. This would necessitate a fourth shot at least six months after the third mRNA vaccine dose was completed. The does not have a guideline for the fourth shot at this time. According to the CDC, people should consult their doctors to see if it is essential.

Those receiving active cancer treatment for blood or tumor cancers, specific organ transplant, and stem cell recipients, people with advanced or untreated HIV. Those who take high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress their immune system are all moderately to severely immunocompromised.
